flash back

My sister and me...

My mom, sister, and me...

4 years ago:

I was a junior in high school, I was also a cheerleader at Parowan High School. Our basketball team made it to the state championship for the first time ever. It was the most fun by far that I ever had at a state tournament. We were the underdogs the whole time. We weren't expected to win our first game, but we did by about ten points. The semi-finals game happened to be one of the best that I had ever been to. We were able to beat the expected winner of the state tournament by a three point basket in the last three seconds. It was SO much fun! Then we played in the state championship game. That game wasn't nearly as good; however, we were ahead the whole time and finished in 1st place! As a cheerleader, that is definitely a very exciting experience.

The Present:

I got a call from my sister, who is now a cheerleader, on friday night and she was near hysterics out of excitement. She started out by asking me if I had heard the news? Naturally I was confused because I had absolutely no idea what she was talking about. She went on to explain that Parowan's boys basketball team just won the semi-final game and were going to be playing in the state championship the next day. A couple hours later my mom texted me (she happens to be the cheer coach) and told me that I should come and watch the game on saturday night. I decided that it could be a fun experience, so the next day I proceeded to take the two hour drive to Richfield for the game. It was fun because they were playing against the same team that we played back when I was a junior. And let me tell you, they make a big deal about these state championship games. However, it wasn't as sweet as it was 4 years ago because we didn't come off conquerer this year. I was still able to enjoy myself reminiscing and catching up with friends that I hadn't seen in a while. Good times.
